You closed your eyes and tried not to think as you stepped into the sticky warm, red liquid.
You shuddered as you felt it on your feet. Your legs. Your body.
you knew what was coming, you were the virgin sacrifice for your tribe in hopes that it would rain.
It was an honor to be chosen, and an even greater honor if you were the sacrifice that caused it to rain.
You knew it was an honor, and you knew you'd be remembered, but the thought of dying terrified you.
You dunked your head under the lamb's blood, and shuddered as it hit your face.
This was a feeling you did not like, being drenched in blood.
You thought back to your life; your sisters and brotehrs, your mother the queen, and father, the king. And your best friends Rodrich and Elizaveta.
You were only 15, a terrible age to die.
"Princess _______?" Your attendant said, shaking you from your thoughts. "It's time for the cerimony."
Taking the goblet you were handed, you dipped it in the blood and took a drink, gagging on the metalic taste.
You were then dressed in a pale white and ivory cerimonial robe.
You wanted to cry, but you knew you'd only have to be re-cleansed and you would have to feel the blood again.
Suddenly, you were in the middle of a coliseum of people cheering for you and wishing you luck in the afterlife.
"Tonight." Your father's voice boomed. "I will sacrifice my eldest daughter and child for the rain that will fall upon us tomorrow! May the gods bless her."
The cheering got louder, and you saw your friends in the front row, crying.
You obediantly lay down on the alter and your father placed the cerimonial knife over your breast.
"I love you daddy." You said, returning to your days as a child in your last moments.
"I love you too... _______."
Your father's face was the last thing you saw before the world turned black and the blood spilled out of you.
